Frequently Asked Questions
What is your timetable?
We do not release our timetable online due to safeguarding purposes, we offer a range of lessons across weekday evenings and will do our best to find a time to suit as many students as possible or we can offer private classes.
How much are lessons?
Group class costs are based on length of lessons and range from £4-£6, we keep our costs as low as possible, invoices are raised half termly and payment is requested via internet banking. Private lessons are also available on request.
How do I sign up for a free trial? (Children's classes, terms and conditions apply)
Please fill in our registration form found on the contact us section of our website or send us a message and we will send you the link. Once we receive the form we will arrange a meet & greet to discuss what classes suit you best.
What do I need to wear/bring to a trail class?
For a trail class students can be in bare feet, socks are too slippery and can be dangerous or for tap have clean trainers. Outdoor shoes are not allowed in the studio which helps keep it clean. We allow our students to wear whatever they feel comfortable in, as long as it is safe to dance in, until they settle in and wtn their dancing outfits! We recommend a skirt for trialling ballet or t shirt and shorts/leggings for any genre with a swimming costume for acro for modesty upside down.
Hair should be tied up off of the shoulders.
Do students take exams?
For ballet, tap & modern we follow the ISTD syllabus and Acrobatic Arts for acro. We offer exams once students are ready, students generally begin taking exams around age 7, it is not compulsory but gives a sense of achievement, satisfaction and enjoyment.
Do you do shows?
We all enjoy working towards performances, we have had four shows at the community centre, there are opportunities to participate in other performances.
Can I watch lessons?
Due to safeguarding and the effect on students, parents watching on a weekly basis is not suitable. We arrange regular chances for you to see students progress through shows, showcasing class work, mock exam watching etc. Children settle well into classes on their own, by age 3 most are used to nursery, if there is a problem in class we will contact you.
Is there a waiting area?
The are areas for parents/carers to wait, we recommend parents of under 5’s stay on site as they require assistance for toilet runs, for older students you can leave site and return at the end of class. There is a seating area, access to bathrooms and the opportunity to get drinks/snacks.
Where can I park?
There is ample free parking available.
Is there a uniform?
Dance shoes are required in certain classes dependent on genre e.g. ballet shoes or tap shoes. We recommend dance socks with dance shoes as it can be more comfortable. Socks are too slippery and not to be worn as they can be dangerous for the student and polish our dance floor making it slippery for others. Outdoor shoes are not allowed in the studio which helps keep it clean, please ensure outdoor shoes are taken off before entering the studio.
Hair should be up off of the shoulders, idealy in a bun for all classes. Hair up is important to allow students to enjoy their dancing without their hair getting in the way, being a distraction or pulled during their skills.
We allow our younger students to wear whatever they feel comfortable in. Many choose a ballet dress or a leaotard with a t-shirt over the top and shorts, as long as it is modest and safe to dance in. We see a variety of colour choices and love seeing their beautiful outfits.
Our students in Grades 1+ can wear any black leotard, there are specific requirements for ballet exams so we are happy to guide you. A tight fitting T-shirt or a HDA T-shirt may be worn over a leotard.
A spill proof water bottle may be brought to senior classes or by students who stay for more than one class on the same evening, this should be water only.
